Let’s Meet

New students to K-10 Dog Training must take the “Let’s Meet” orientation class prior to your dog’s training start date. This is a one-time class intended for just the dog owner(s). Information is collected so that an individual training plan can be created to meet both your needs and the needs of your pet. In addition to data collection, this class gives you the tools to start building asolid positive relationship with your dog. The orientation class is free to anyone who continues with training at K-10. If no subsequent classes are taken, there is a $60.00 plus tax charge for the orientation class alone.

Canine Good Citizen Training

Canine Good Citizen is a 10-skill test that teaches good manners to dogs and responsible dog ownership to their owners. Successful completion can be registered with the American Kennel Club. This is a five-week prep class which prepares you to take the CGC Canine Good Citizen test. The 10-skill test is conducted at the last class. Let’s Get Started - The Basics

Available for puppies and dogs, no matter the age. Puppies must have at least the second round of vaccinations prior to starting classes at K-10. Your pet will learn basic behaviors such as sit, down, stay, targeting and recall. Pattern games that reinforce eye contact and attention will be covered. An introductory to Loose Leash Walking as well as impulse control exercises such as Leave It and Trade willalso be available.

Take it to The Next Level and Beyond

Pre-requisite - The Basics

These are 5-week packages for dogs that already know the Basics. Students will learn to add more distance, distractions, and durations to already known cues. More time will be spent on Loose Leash Walking and leash handling skills with gamesthat teach your dog that it’s okay to go off and sniff, but when cued, to focus back in on you. Students will also learn to use "Life Reward" and "Enrichment" to reinforce desired behaviors. Your dog can work on longer-distance recalls and stays with increasing distractions. There are no limits to this class. Add new behaviors of your choice including fun tricks – it’s up to you. It’s all about building that positive relationship with your pup!

Canine Good Citizen Testing

NOTE: Multiple students may be testing on the same day, but each student’s test is done individually.

Diamonds in the Ruff

Do you have a reactive dog? It doesn’t matter if your dog is reactive due to over-excitement or fear – reactivity is reactivityand your dog’s body responds in similar ways. Understand that behavior is dictated by the interaction between four primary elements: Learning, Environment, Genetics & Self (L.E.G.S.). These elements are designed to work cooperatively for every animal’s benefit and survival. “Behavior problems” indicate a misfit or imbalance in the L.E.G.S.
