Service Description

According to KiKi Yablon from the Karen Pryor Academy, “Modern, dog-centric loose- leash walking doesn’t look much like the old “obedience” models, with the dog trotting closely by your side for most of the walk. It looks more like a dog and a person moving through space together, almost as though they were off-leash, interacting with each other and the world in ways that both parties find enriching.“ Talking a walk with our canine friend should be a pleasurable experience for those at both ends of leash. For you, it’s being with your dog as he and you both exercise while enjoying the outdoors. For your dog, there is nothing better than having the ability to investigate and sniff all those wonderful smells of nature. Pulling on leash usually happens because those wonderful smells are not within reach of the 6-foot leash that is his tether to you. Simply using a longer leash so the dog has more freedom can solve many pulling problems. In this class, both you and your dog will learn new skills. You will learn to handle a long line to allow your dog more freedom on walks. Your dog will learn cues so he knows when you want and need him to walk close and when it’s ok to go off and investigate. “Games” like “Round the Clock” and “Triangles”, make learning and practicing new skills fun for all. Turn your walks into a dance with your dog while you both enjoy nature and exercising and nature. Call 315-715-2900 for more information or to sign up for a class.
